DM TAB-12
DM TAB-12 is an oral, OTC medication designed to relieve coughs due to colds, influenza, or acute bronchitis. DM TAB-12 is formulated in a new, solid dosage form to create a tablet that improves improve portability versus messy liquids and improves dosing accuracy. DM TAB-12 is non-narcotic and non-sedating.
DM IER’s active ingredient, dextromethorphan, is widely available as an immediate release drug, primarily liquids and one 12 hour formulation, Delsym®.
Currently, there are no solid oral dosage forms of 12 hour dextromethorphan products available in the United States. DM TAB-12 would be the first and only tablet for of dextromethorphan in a long acting, twice a day formulation.
Unlike narcotics such as codeine and hydrocodone which have significant safety issues related to overdose and are controlled substances, DM TAB-12would be available without a prescription and would not be behind the counter
Market research shows that consumers have considerable interest in tablet forms of dextromethorphan because it is easier to take to work, school or anywhere out of the home. Liquids are heavy and need a teaspoon for accurate dosing.
Tablets are more discrete, in comparison to liquids.
